Description

Revolutionary Electronically Commutated (EC) Motor in Vents VUT 2000 PE EC

The Vents VUT 2000 PE EC air handling unit is a high-performance, commercial-class system capable of moving up to 2000 m³/h of air. The central and most innovative component ensuring its exceptional performance is a pair of Electronically Commutated (EC) direct current motors installed in the supply and extract air channels.

Operating Principle and Energy Efficiency

EC motors represent the modern standard in the ventilation industry. Their technology is based on the absence of a traditional brush commutator. Instead, an electronic system (controller) precisely manages the power supply to the stator windings, synchronizing it with the rotor position. This process minimizes internal losses, resulting in a phenomenally high efficiency rating of up to 90%.

Compared to standard asynchronous (induction) motors, EC motors reduce energy consumption by 1.5 to 3 times. For the VUT 2000 PE EC unit, the maximum fan power output is 2x420 W, which is remarkably low for such high capacity. This significantly lowers operating costs, especially considering that the unit is designed for continuous operation in large offices, shopping centers, or industrial premises.

Design and Aerodynamic Characteristics

Each motor features an external rotor, which promotes efficient heat dissipation and ensures a compact overall assembly. An impeller with backward-curved blades is mounted directly onto the motor shaft. This type of impeller is optimal for systems operating under high duct resistance. It generates a powerful airflow and the high static pressure required to overcome the resistance of filters, the heat exchanger, and extensive duct networks.

Thanks to their brushless design, EC motors are durable and maintenance-free. They operate on reliable rolling-element bearings designed for a long service life.

Integration and Control

Another key benefit is perfect controllability. EC motors allow for smooth, stepless fan speed adjustment across the entire operating range. This provides maximum flexibility when configuring the automation system. The VUT 2000 PE EC unit can precisely maintain a set airflow rate or pressure balance, automatically responding to changes within the system. This precise control also helps reduce noise levels (which stand at a moderate 58 dBA at a distance of 3 m), as the fans only operate at the exact speed required at any given moment.
